Legendary German firm JP Sauer and Sohn are well known for their exceptional rifles. Highest quality craftsmanship combined with ample features and top performance comes standard with all Sauer Rifles. The Sauer 100 Classic 6.5 Creedmoor rifle is no exception.
One of the demands from the shooting market is more value for less. The Sauer 100 Range is one of the very best offerings in this class. “Affordability” is not typically a word associated with JP Sauer and Sohn. The Sauer 100 Classic 6.5 Creedmoor offers great unparalleled quality where it is required.
Packed with design features based on the higher-end 101 and 404 rifles, the Sauer 100 Classic 6.5 Creedmoor is as comfortable and accurate as any hunter could ever dream of. Excellent performance is enhanced by aesthetic and ergonomic refinements, which few other rifles can match.
Weighing in at just over 3 kilogram, the Sauer 100 Classic 6.5 Creedmoor is one of the ideal hunting rifles on offer to South African. Whether you enjoy hard walk and stalk hunting in the Eastern Cape mountains or the Bushveld, the Sauer 100 will be a great companion. Ultimately the pedigree of Sauer Rifles combined with a wide range of calibers and models make it a fantastic choice for any hunter.
The Sauer 100 Classic chambered in the relatively new 6.5 Creedmoor Caliber, is a fantastic all round rifle. The 6.5mm projectile has proven itself from long range gong shoots to a great caliber for short to longer distance hunting. The range of bullets that is most popular is in the 120 to 156 grain range. The flat trajectories with a muzzle velocity around the 2550 to 3050 ft/s mark, makes this a useful rifle for hunting medium bodied antelope. The ability of the 6.5 Creedmoor Caliber to achieve good velocity with moderate recoil and still deliver pinpoint accuracy makes it a great choice for hunters.
The Sauer 100 Classic rifle has a beechwood stock that features neutral cast for both left and right handed shooters. Sauer based the geometry of the stock on that of their higher-end rifles, the S101 and S404. It has a slight palm swell that fit most hands comfortably and is shaped in such a way that the finger align perfectly with the trigger. The ERGO MAX stock differentiates itself by the air face inclining to the rear.
The improved position of the head behind the telescopic sight results in easy and comfortable sighting. In addition, the recoil felt is also considerably reduced.
The for-end of the stock has a Schnabel type for-end. It has a nice comfortable fit in hand and contribute to the rifle’s fine balance and handling characteristics. The checkering on the stock give both hands good grip and greatly enhance handling in wet conditions. Swivel studs come standard on the stock for the attachment of a rifle sling of bi-pod.
Sauer 100 Rifles are fitted with the latest recoil pad technology. It reduces the impact of the recoil on the shooter which is a very useful feature, especially on the heavy calibers. The robust pad allows you to fully concentrate on the accuracy of your shots.
The extra wide trigger with a glass-sharp trigger characteristic is adjustable from 2.2 to 4.2 lb pull weight. It is easily adjustable without removing the stock.
The three position safety combines easiest operation with maximum reliability.
Position 1: Safety on // Bolt locked
2: Safety on // Bolt can be opened
Simply perfect – simply SAUER. A one-piece, full-diameter bolt with three lugs locks within the barrel extension. The bolt release on the receiver’s left side engages a raceway machined into the bolt to provide stability and guidance during bolt travel. At the face of the bolt are two plunger-style ejectors and a sliding-plate extractor. A red cocking indicator protrudes from the bolt’s rear. The bolt handle is capped with a round, polymer knob that bears lateral grooves to ensure a firm grip.
Sauer’s combination of the extractor riding low in the ejection port and the dual ejectors means that fired cases leave the action at a low angle. The biggest advantage from Sauer’s attention to the extractor and ejector design is that the Sauer set up is least likely to have interference issues with a low-mounted scope. The bolt operate with a 60 degree bolt handle lift.
The barrel on the Sauer 100 comes from the same factory and is made to the same specifications as all Sauer, Blaser and Mauser barrels. Sauer 100 barrels are hammer-forged and every Sauer rifle has a 1 MOA guarantee for three shots from 100 yards. The ripple-free exterior and the minimal tooling marks on the inside are both indications of the quality of its construction. The muzzle is not threaded and features a target-style crown. The barrel has a satin finish.
Robustness and quality go hand in hand. The metallic bolt shroud covers and shields the rear of the bolt body and the firing pin. A red pin indicate when the rifle is loaded. The bolt shroud is stylishly design to taper with the rear of the action.
The action bedding system of the Sauer 100 is unique. There is no recoil lug on the action. In place of the lug is a groove in the action behind the forward action screw. A machined block of aluminum that sits in the stock has a corresponding lug that protrudes into this groove when the stock and action are together. Sauer uses the same EVER REST action bedding as on the higher end S101 and S404 models.
The magazine Sauer pairs with this action is a short, five-round, double-stack magazine. The removable magazine is made of tough weatherproof and temperature-resistant polymer.
Flush fitting, the removal of the magazine requires depressing a spring-loaded button located forward of the magazine well within a circular recess in the bottom metal.
The Sauer 100 accepts the same scope bases as a long-action Remington 700. Various aftermarket products for the Model 700 enables the Sauer 100 to use a wide variaty of scope bases. There are one- and two-piece bases made from aluminum and steel with zero or up to 40 MOA tapering. Since they all fit the Sauer 100, there are as many options, as one can imagine. Sauer also strongly recommend the SAUER Hexalock mount
